Job summary

Helsing is seeking an experienced ML engineer to own detection and tracking models powering Altra and HX-2. You will train, tune, and deploy models on US datasets, manage the full lifecycle from data curation to edge deployment, and collaborate with systems engineers to integrate into the broader platform.

You will work on SWaP-constrained devices, using PyTorch, TensorRT, ONNX, and related tools, with a focus on production readiness and data quality. U.S. citizenship required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of applied ML or computer vision experience.
• Bachelor's in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field; Master/PhD preferred.
• Experience training and deploying object detection models in production.
• Proficient in Python and PyTorch or similar DL framework.
• Strong data-quality intuition and understanding of evaluation metrics.

Responsibilities

• Train and fine-tune detection models (YOLO, DETR, Faster R-CNN) on mission datasets.
• Implement and improve multi-object tracking pipelines (SORT, DeepSORT, ByteTrack).
• Evaluate model performance, diagnose failures, iterate on data and models.
• Manage data pipeline end-to-end: data assessment, annotation, curation, augmentation.
• Optimize models for SWaP-constrained and edge platforms (TensorRT, ONNX, quantization).
• Collaborate with systems engineers to integrate models into Altra platform.
