Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking a hands-on autonomy software architect for our Irving, TX team. You will own the edge compute, OS configuration, and runtime services for our autonomous construction platform, ensuring reliable operation on NVIDIA Thor-based edge devices.

You will collaborate with perception, robotics, safety, cybersecurity, and supplier teams to deploy GPU-accelerated inference, manage resources, and monitor health, with travel up to 25% and relocation assistance.

Qualifications

• Experience with edge AI runtime platforms and embedded Linux.
• Experience with NVIDIA Jetson IGX/AGX Thor ecosystem and related tools.
• Strong understanding of CPU/GPU/memory/storage/network for real-time workloads.
• Experience with middleware, drivers, service orchestration, logging and diagnostics.
• Ability to collaborate across perception, robotics, safety, cybersecurity, operations, and supplier teams.

Responsibilities

• Define edge compute and runtime architecture for autonomy services on NVIDIA Thor platform.
• Leverage the NVIDIA Jetson software stack for GPU-accelerated inference and data processing.
• Define resource allocation across perception, robotics, data logging, diagnostics.
• Define runtime monitoring, health management, and fault handling.
