Job summary

Amazon's Edge Intelligence team in Santa Cruz, CA seeks a Software Engineer to design and build on-device applications powering in-vehicle experiences and real-time intelligence.

You will work across edge devices, sensors, and cloud platforms to optimize performance, reliability, and scale, owning the end-to-end lifecycle from design through deployment and on-call support. A Bachelor's degree in CS or related field and 3+ years of software development are required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience for large-scale systems.
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience.
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services.
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Responsibilities

• On-Device Applications: Design and develop applications powering in-vehicle experiences, improving safety and delivery efficiency.
• Edge Inference & ML: Build and optimize on-device inference pipelines for perception and real-time decision-making.
• Sensor & Camera Processing: Develop sensor ingestion frameworks and camera/signal processing pipelines.
• Edge Runtime Optimization: Profile and optimize edge compute workloads for performance and power.
• Device-to-Cloud Orchestration: Design data pipelines moving telemetry, video, and sensor data to cloud analytics.
• Edge Telemetry & Observability: Build monitoring, logging, and alerting systems for edge devices.
• On-Device Map-Making: Contribute to map-making models and localization systems.
• Operational Excellence: Own end-to-end lifecycle from design to on-call support.
