Job summary

Focus School Software LLC seeks a Group Leader for the Volusia County Schools' After School Program. The role involves supervising students in grades 6-8, coordinating activities with volunteers, and ensuring safety and proper supervision at all times.

Responsibilities include maintaining program knowledge, facilitating engagements, and communicating with students, parents, staff, and the Site Lead. Training such as CPR/First Aid is required, with emphasis on reliability and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in working effectively with and managing organized activities for children.
• Current First Aid/CPR certification or plan to complete within the first year of employment.
• STAR substitute teacher training preferred within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintain knowledge of all program phases and tasks.
• Ensure proper supervision at all times.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff and Site Lead.
• Coordinate activities with volunteers.
• Attend required staff meetings and workshops.
• Maintain a neat, safe work area conducive to constructive play.
• Ensure equipment and materials are arranged and maintained.

POSITION GOAL

Enrich the educational, emotional and physical well being of students in the quality Volusia County Schools' After School Program

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain a thorough knowledge of all phases of the program and job.
• Successfully complete appropriate tasks and follow procedures and policies.
• Establish and maintain good judgment in support of the program.
• Remain in the program area during assigned hours unless specifically assigned duty elsewhere.
• Establish and maintain positive communication with students, parents, school staff and Site Lead.
• Become familiar with the program site and follow the directions for all emergency procedures: fire drills, severe weather drill, emergency evacuation procedures and others as needed.
• Successfully complete in-service and staff development sessions as required (CPR, GSM, etc. . .).
• Attend and participate in required periodic staff meetings and/or workshops
• Ensure proper supervision at all times.
• Maintain work area in a neat, clean manner conducive to constructive play appropriate to the age group.
• Coordinate activities with volunteers working with his/her group of children.
• Effectively carry out assigned group activities.
• Establish and maintain promptness and attendance.
• Notify the Site Lead and/or Principal/Administrator in a timely manner of the need to be absent. This notification may be required in writing.
• Ensure the equipment and materials are arranged, available, and maintained in good condition.
• Encourage parental involvement.
• Perform general housekeeping duties for the program as assigned.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Site Lead.

Required Qualifications/Certifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Hold a High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent
• Experience in working effectively with and managing organized activities for children (volunteer or paid)
• Holds current certification or will successfully complete the following course during the first year of employment: First Aid/CPR
• Successful completion of the Volusia County Schools substitute teacher training course (STAR) within one (1) year of date of hire is preferred
