Job Summary
ED Unit Service Technician Per Diem Faulkner
Schedule: Emergency Department. Per Diem - Weekend and Holiday Rotation. Per Diem: 16 shifts in 6 months. At least 1-2 weekend shifts a month. 8 hour shifts minimum.
The Unit Service Technician provides a broad range of care and services to Patients, including but not limited to EKG, phlebotomy, equipment cleaning, and stocking of rooms under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Performs a wide range of secretarial duties, including but not limited to organizing paperwork, answering the phone, paging, and receiving of Emergency Department patients into the medi-tech computer system. Provides safe accurate transportation of patients throughout the hospital. Performs 1:1 sitting when necessary. The Unit Service Technician of the Emergency Department will also assure the practice of the Patient and Family Centered Care Model in an environment that exemplifies best practice.

Qualifications
Required qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent. - Certified Nursing Assistant license or EMT license required. - Certification in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers required. Additional qualifications: Experience as a medical technician or patient care assistant in preferred in an Emergency setting. Ability to work independently. Ability to work in a fast pace, physically taxing environment. Staff adheres to all I C.A.R.E. Standards. Successful completion of an approved nursing assistant training program. Ability to effectively speak, read and write using the English language. Ability to pass clinical competency, basic math and reading testing. Ability to perform basic math calculations and measurements, in order to measure height and weight, intake and output and calorie counts. Ability to accurately interpret and utilize basic medical terminology and abbreviations. Ability to enter and retrieve computerized information. Physical ability to push, transfer, and pull heavy loads throughout assigned shift. Physical ability to meet core job requirements in accordance with practice setting demands, for the patient populations regularly served. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact appropriately with nursing staff, patients, families/visitors, physicians, and other hospital staff. Organizational skills to set priorities and efficiently complete assigned work.
