Job summary

Adventist Health Sonora is seeking a Per Diem Technician to support an Emergency department. The role involves assisting RN and physicians with exams and treatments, documenting care, and maintaining equipment.

You will perform essential unit secretary tasks and ensure readiness of supplies to meet daily nursing care demands. Qualifications include a High School diploma or GED, CPR/BLS, and CPR certification as required.

Qualifications

• High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required.
• Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred.
• CPR certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification: Required.
• EMT Certification: Preferred.
• CNA, CMA or Paramedic certification: Preferred.
• Phlebotomist Technician license: Preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists the RN and physician with assessments, examinations and treatments.
• Documents patient care performed, including vital signs and bedside observations.
• Maintains equipment and supplies, supports cost containment, orders as appropriate.
• Prioritizes patient care and communicates changes in condition to the RN/MD.
• Provides patient and family education within scope of practice.

Job Summary

Assists the Registered Nurse (RN) and physician with assessments, examinations and treatments. Performs a variety of technical and patient care duties under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Performs essential functions of the Unit Secretary.

Job Requirements

Education and Work Experience:

• High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required
• Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred

Licenses/Certifications

• Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification: Preferred
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Medical Assistant (CMA) or Paramedic certification: Preferred
• Phlebotomist Technician license: Preferred

Facility Specific License/Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required

Essential Functions

• Assists the Registered (RN) and physician with assessments, examinations and treatments. Documents patient care performed, including vital signs, bedside care and observations.
• Maintains state of readiness by maintaining equipment/supplies appropriate to the position. Assists in cost containment through the appropriate ordering and conserving of supplies and equipment.
• Prioritizes patient care and department needs, sets goals, and organizes time to meet daily demands of nursing care. Observes, documents and reports patient condition and changes in condition to the RN, MD/Provider.
• Provides patient and family education within scope of practice.
• Documents patient care performed, including vital signs, bedside care and observations. Records and collects specimens.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
