Job summary

Adventist Health Simi Valley seeks an RN/Physician support role to assist with assessments, examinations and treatments in the Emergency Department. The role performs essential patient care duties under RN supervision and helps with unit secretary tasks.

Responsibilities include documenting care, vital signs, and specimens; maintaining equipment readiness; and educating patients and families within scope. Shift is night, full-time with a 12-hour schedule.

Qualifications

• High School Education/GED or equivalent required.
• Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination preferred.
• EMT Certification preferred.
• CPR/BLS certification required.
• CNA/CMA/Paramedic certifications preferred.
• Phlebotomist license preferred.
• AHA-BLS/ARC-BLS required.
• CPI/TEAM/TEAM-A certifications required.

• Observes, documents and reports patient condition to RN/MD.
• Provides patient and family education within scope of practice.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Assists the Registered Nurse (RN) and physician with assessments, examinations and treatments. Performs a variety of technical and patient care duties under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Performs essential functions of the Unit Secretary.

Job Requirements

Education and Work Experience:

• High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required
• Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred

Licenses/Certifications

• Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification: Preferred
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Medical Assistant (CMA) or Paramedic certification: Preferred
• Phlebotomist Technician license: Preferred

Facility Specific License/Certifications

• AHA-BLS or ARC-BLS: Required

Department Specific License/Certifications

• Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM) or TEAM-A: Required

Essential Functions

• Assists the Registered (RN) and physician with assessments, examinations and treatments. Documents patient care performed, including vital signs, bedside care and observations.
• Maintains state of readiness by maintaining equipment/supplies appropriate to the position. Assists in cost containment through the appropriate ordering and conserving of supplies and equipment.
• Prioritizes patient care and department needs, sets goals, and organizes time to meet daily demands of nursing care. Observes, documents and reports patient condition and changes in condition to the RN, MD/Provider.
• Provides patient and family education within scope of practice.
• Documents patient care performed, including vital signs, bedside care and observations. Records and collects specimens.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
