Job summary

Fairfield Medical Center is seeking an Emergency Department Tech to assist nurses and patients under the supervision of a Staff RN. The role covers lab draws, EKGs, monitor placement, catheterizations, dressings, and patient transport in a fast-paced ED.

The ED Tech will document care in the clinical system and assist with pelvic exams as directed by an RN, while maintaining positive patient relations and teamwork in the department.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Annual CPR certification required.
• Attends non-violent crisis intervention within 1 year of employment.
• One year of nursing assistant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lab draws, EKGs, monitor lead placement, catheterizations, simple sterile dressings, set-up of suture trays.
• Patient transport (including telemetry patients within 6 months).
• Set up for and assist with pelvic exams as directed by an RN.
• Assist with vital signs and other duties in triage as directed by an RN.
• Document patient care using a computerized clinical documentation system.
