Job summary

Albany Med is seeking an ED Technician for the Emergency Department to support clinical staff in delivering high-quality care. The role involves assisting with resuscitation, airway management, and collecting blood samples while maintaining patient safety and comfort.

The position requires a high school diploma and 6 months to 1 year of ED technician or EMS experience. The job entails standing and moving throughout shifts in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 6 months to 1 year ED Technician and/or EMS experience desired.

Responsibilities

• Assists with resuscitation / CPR and emergency airway procedures.
• Performs venipuncture to obtain blood specimens.
• Assists physicians and nurses providing technical support for patient care.
• Reports on the condition of the patient to the appropriate supervisor/staff member.
• Assists with the transport of patients to other departments.
• Assists with obtaining and documentation of vital signs, cardiac monitoring, and non-invasive blood pressure monitoring systems.
• Obtains 12-lead EKGs, discontinues peripheral IV and heparin/saline locks.
• Assist with wound care, insertion of Foley catheters, and nasogastric tubes.
• Assists with positioning patients, application of orthopedic splints and dressings.
• Measure and fit crutches and canes and instruct patients on proper use.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent. 6 months to 1-year previous experience as a ED Technician and/or previous EMS experience is desired Honest, punctual, and performs the job in adherence to the highest standards of ethical conduct as defined by AMC and the tenets of the profession. Ability to communicate cooperatively and effectively with patients, family members, employees and others. Regularly required to stand, walk, use of hands for various job functions, and occasionally required to sit, kneel, or crouch.
