Job summary

Horizon Health Corporation is recruiting an Emergency Room Technician for George Washington University Hospital in downtown Washington, DC. You will provide patient care under the direct supervision of the Charge Nurse and ED Attending Physician, following an established plan of care.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalency.
  • EMT course completed that meets or exceeds standards.
  • National Registry exam at Basic/Intermediate/Paramedic level is preferred.
  • 1 year of ED experience or related EMS/military experience.
  • BLS certification from AHA or Red Cross.
  • English speaking/writing ability required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care to assigned patients per plan of care under supervision.
  • Assist with patient assessment and documentation.
  • Support ED team with rapid response and critical thinking tasks.

Emergency Room Technician is responsible for:

Providing care to assigned patients, according to established plan of care and as competency documentation designates, under the direct supervision of the Charge Nurse/Team Leader and/or Emergency Department Attending Physician.

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalency
  • Successful completion of a state‑approved Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course that meets or exceeds the National Emergency Medical Services Education Standards for the Emergency Medical Technician is preferred.
  • Successful completion of the cognitive and psychomotor exam for the National Registry of EMTs at a Basic, Intermediate, or Paramedic level
  • 1 year of recent Emergency Department experience as an emergency room technician or at least one year of experience as a primary EMS field provider or military equivalent
  • BLS through American Heart Association, American Red Cross
  • Able to speak and write English Fluently
  • Demonstrated communication, organization, and critical thinking skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
