Job summary

Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital is seeking an Emergency Department Tech for part-time shifts (60-72 hours per pay period) in a fast-paced Emergency Department. You will support direct patient care, assist with routine tasks, and collaborate closely with nursing leadership.

This role involves 12-hour day/night shifts, including every 3rd weekend, with a focus on compassionate care, teamwork, and maintaining unit readiness in a rural Minnesota hospital.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Graduate of a Nursing Aide or EMT program; MN Registry or NREMT/Minnesota EMSR Board listed preferred.
• BLS certification or ability to obtain within two months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist with direct patient care as directed, including transfers, ambulation, feeding, dressing, bathing, weighing, and toileting.
• Respond to call lights and promptly communicate with RN for patient interventions.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and protect organizational information at all times.
• Assemble and disassemble patient charts and obtain necessary signatures.
• Manage unit supplies, restock as needed, and keep the unit organized.
• Support hourly rounding and assist in mobility and ADL tasks.
• Report significant events promptly to the RN and document appropriately.
• Assist in safety device monitoring and alarm response with RN oversight.
• Clean and disinfect equipment and maintain a tidy, safe environment.

Job Summary

The Emergency Department Tech serves the hospital patient population by assisting to provide direct patient care which meets the assigned unit needs through regular rounding. This position also includes clerical functions and patient care services in the Emergency Department. Nurse Leadership may re-assign to other units based on changes of volumes and acuity. You will play a vital role on the acute care nursing team by following our patients throughout their recovery process and returning them back to their independence!

Here’s what you’ll do when you join us:

• Demonstrate a professional and compassionate attitude towards patients, families, visitors, coworkers and other departmental representatives.
• Answers patients' call lights and direct all phone calls promptly and communicates/completes needed patient intervention.
• Handles all organizational information in a manner that ensures strict confidentiality is maintained at all times.
• Obtain signatures and place identification on patients.
• Maintain and order unit supplies and stock items.
• Assemble and disassemble patient charts.
• Assists in the delivery of patient care as directed to include: transfers, ambulation, feeding, dressing, bathing, weighing, and toileting.
• Participate in hourly rounding.
• Reports significant events and actions promptly to the RN.
• Applies monitors and reports to the RN the effectiveness of any safety device and/or mobility alarm.
• Cleans and disinfects equipment as needed and assists in keeping unit clean and organized.

If you have these qualifications, we'd love to chat:

1. Must be 18 years of age or older.
2. Graduate of a Nursing Aide or EMT program. Certification and current listing on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry or certification through National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians or Minnesota Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board preferred.
3. BLS Certification or ability to obtain within two months of hire and maintains certification.
4. Experience in an ambulatory or inpatient health care setting with ability to multi-task and manage multiple patient/family/nursing/physician priorities within short time frames preferred.
5. Demonstrated ability to adhere to and follow Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital Mission, Values, Vision and policies.
6. Maintains reliable and consistent attendance.
