Job summary

Riverside Smithfield Hospital is seeking an Emergency Technician to assist physicians and nurses in patient care in the Smithfield, Virginia emergency department. The role includes handling invasive and non-invasive procedures, data collection, and timely communication with the care team.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED and EMT training or certification (preferred). CPR/BLS is required, with ACLS/PALS often needed within specified timelines.

Qualifications

• EMT training or certification preferred; licensure upon hire may be required.
• 1 year EMT experience if applicable (PRN status).
• CPR/BLS certification must be current upon hire; ACLS/PALS may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and RNs in delivering patient care, including invasive and non-invasive procedures.
• Accurately document clinical data consistent with RHS standards.
• Assess patient needs and respond to changes in condition using SBAR when applicable.
• Fill in as monitor tech as needed to support patient care and throughput.
• Support productivity and participate in cost containment and equipment evaluations.

Responsible for providing assistance to physicians and RN in the delivery of patient care to include invasive and non-invasive procedures: EKG's, IVs, phlebotomy. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to age of the patient served in assigned department. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. Collects data reflective of the patient's status and assist with the interpretation of appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to age specific needs as described in the departmental policy and procedural guide. Emergency Technician will fill in as the monitor tech as needed.What you will doDemonstrates assessment ability by applying standards of practice as it relates to the specialty or patient population served.
