Job summary

Child Development Services in Maine seeks an itinerant Ed Tech III to support preschoolers with disabilities, ages 3–5, at Enfield. The role is 15 hours per week during the academic year, with responsibilities including instructional support, collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, and possible tele-practice help for speech therapy.

A current Ed Tech certification and criminal history check are required; travel to various locations is expected as part of the job.

  • Review and reinforce learning previously introduced by teachers.
  • Assist in preparing classroom materials and managing classes.
  • Introduce new learning planned with the Teacher of Children With Disabilities.
  • Model positive language and behavior for children and families.
  • Provide input on student observations and assessments.
  • Conduct one-on-one or small groups with indirect supervision.
  • Supervise small groups in community-based programs.
  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary by Site Director.

Job description

Itinerant Ed Tech III

Our CDS Two Rivers site in Brewer has a 15 hour per week, academic year opening for a compassionate, dedicated Ed Tech III to work with preschool children with disabilities ages 3-5 in Enfield. Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams and the preschool population is preferred.

Summary Description

The Education Technician will provide instruction to children identified with developmental disabilities under the direction of a teacher. Additionally, this position may serve as an e-helper to children receiving speech therapy via tele-practice. Experience working with preschool populations and working with a multidisciplinary team is preferred. A current Ed Tech certification and a criminal history check are required.

Salary Range

Ed Tech III $20.62 - $32.09

Permitted Performance Responsibilities

  • Introduce new learning, pre-planned in collaboration with the Teacher of Children With Disabilities.
  • Exhibit positive language and behavior skills as a model for children and families.
  • Provide input to completion and maintenance of individual observational child assessment.
  • Conduct one-on-one or small groups with indirect professional supervision.
  • Supervise small groups of students in community-based programs.
  • Any other appropriate duties the Site Director/Supervisor deems necessary.
Required Supervision
  • Perform short-term instruction in small classes or in community-based programs with indirect supervision
  • Meet with the Teacher of Children With Disabilities or appropriate contact area specialist and receive direction at least on a twice weekly basis.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Obtain and maintain authorization as an Ed Tech II or III with the Maine Department of Education
  • Document three years of postsecondary education or a combination equivalent to 90 hours of approved study in an educationally related field
  • Successful background, criminal records, fingerprinting and reference check

Child Development Services serves the early intervention and special education needs of Maine's children birth to age five. We have over 350 employees, a large network of contracted providers and currently serve over 3,500 children ages 0 to 5 years.

CDS consists of 10 principal sites throughout Maine with several satellite offices.
