Position Overview

Full‑time Early Childhood Educator (Ed Tech II or III) or Teacher Assistant position at Promise Early Education Center, located in Central Maine. The role supports a Pre‑K classroom on a school‑year schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in daily classroom operations, including setup, clean‑up, and lesson support.
  • Participate in floor‑time activities with young children, requiring physical ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds and get down on the floor.
  • Encourage student learning, develop plans, and convey information clearly in both verbal and written forms.
  • Maintain a safe and engaging atmosphere for all students.
  • Use computer skills for lesson planning, record keeping, and communication with parents and staff.
Qualifications
  • Certified as Ed Tech II or III through the Maine Department of Education (DOE) with a minimum of 60 college credits; DOE will assist with certification process.
  • Alternatively, qualified as a Teacher Assistant with no college education required.
  • Experience or education in early childhood education is desirable.
  • Reliable transportation to the school site.
  • Proficiency in computer use and clear written and verbal communication.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Hourly pay: $19.91–$22.00 for teachers; $20.56 for DOE‑certified Ed Tech II/III (higher for those with an early childhood degree). Additional earnings include:
    • Annual Performance Merit Bonus
    • Annual Cost of Living Increase (as determined by the Federal Government)
    • Generous Tuition Assistance
  • Classroom staff receive the Maine Supplemental Wage. Maine Supplemental Wage tiers:
    • Tier 1 (Levels 1‑4): $240 per month
    • Tier 2 (Levels 5‑6): $360 per month
    • Tier 3 (Levels 7‑8): $540 per month
  • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance (agency pays 80% for medical)
