Job summary

Overlake Medical Center is seeking an Emergency Department Technician (ED Tech) for the Bellevue Campus Emergency Department. The ED Tech provides direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, may perform point-of-care testing and blood draws, and transports specimens as needed.

The role supports patients of various ages with a focus on safety, accuracy, and compassionate communication. Evening/night shifts are 8 hours, part-time .6 FTE.

Qualifications

  • WA Nursing Assistant - Certified (NA-C) required or NA-R considered.
  • WA Medical Assistant - Phlebotomist (MA-P); must obtain within 90 days of hire.
  • BLS for Health Care Providers required.
  • Minimum 1 year recent health care experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and EKG preferred.
  • Computer familiarity is preferred.
  • Knowledge/handling of hospital equipment and record keeping.
  • Excellent customer service, oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.

Job description

Overlake Medical Center is currently seeking an Emergency Department Technician (ED Tech) for our Bellevue Campus Emergency Department. The ED Tech provides direct patient care to patients and their families under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. May provide care to patients of various ages. May also perform waived and moderately complex point of care testing and associated quality activities outlined in protocol and procedures; obtain blood samples from patients, transport sample and other potentially biohazardous specimen for point of care. Overlake's Emergency Department is a 40-bed Level III Trauma Center that serves as the back-up hospital to Harborview Medical Center in the event of a large-scale emergency or regional disaster. Part Time (.6 FTE - 48 hours per two-week pay period) 8-hour shifts (11 pm - 7 am) NIGHTS

Qualifications
  • Washington State Nursing Assistant - Certified (NA-C) required or will consider Washington State Nursing Assistant Registered (NA-R)
  • Washington State Medical Assistant - Phlebotomist (MA-P) (NOTE: Must obtain within 90 days of hire)
  • Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers (BLS) required
  • Minimum of one year of recent experience in a health care setting involving patient contact preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and EKG preferred
  • Computer familiarity is preferred
  • Knowledge and handling of hospital equipment and record keeping
  • Excellent customer service, oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to read, write, and speak in the English language
