Job summary

Sturdy Memorial Hospital, Inc. seeks an ED Tech to assist in rendering nursing care in the Emergency Department under the supervision of a registered nurse.

The role adheres to SMH policies and regulatory standards, and emphasizes patient age-appropriate care and safety. The position is per diem, with a focus on compassionate communication, timely responses, and collaboration with clinicians and families to support high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills needed to assist in providing care to patients; all approaches to a patient are sensitive to the patient’s age, culture and potential disability.
• Positive interpersonal communication skills and good organizational skills.
• Must meet all criteria associated with responsibilities listed in the core and unit-specific competencies for an ED Tech.
• Must visibly demonstrate commitment to customer relations and all basic concepts of continuous quality improvement and preventing error from reaching the patient.
• Provides timely, positive responses to the needs of all customers including patients, families, co-workers and physicians.

Under the direction and supervision of a professional registered nurse, assists in rendering nursing care in the ED. Functions within policies, procedures and guidelines of SMH in accordance with the MDPH, DNV, CDC and OSHA standards, and any other applicable regulatory or accreditation agency.

Per Diem

Required Skills/Qualifications/Training/Experience:

• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills needed to assist in providing care to patients; all approaches to a patient are sensitive to the patient’s age, culture and potential disability.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications/Training/Experience:

• Previous nursing assistant training or related experience (EMT, Paramedic, nursing student).

Educational Requirements:

• High School Graduate or equivalent

License/Certification:

• BLS

Salary Range: $19.85-$30.05

The pay range displayed on each job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set, and education.
