Job summary

The Syracuse VA Medical Center is seeking a Board Certified Emergency Department Physician to deliver urgent and emergent care to veterans. The physician will report to the Emergency Department Section Chief and work rotating 10- to 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and some holidays.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an approved school.
• Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the US.
• Board certification in emergency medicine or eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Provide evaluation and treatment for urgent and emergent care in the ED.
• Perform focused history and physical exams and initiate treatment.
• Order diagnostic tests and interpret results for veterans.
• Prescribe medications and manage patient care, including dispositions.
• Document in the electronic medical record and participate in quality initiatives.
