Job summary

Unknown health care facility seeks a Phlebotomy Technician to collect blood specimens, deliver them to the lab, and document results. The role includes performing EKGs and monitoring vital signs under supervision.

Requirements include High School or equivalent, 1–3 years of related experience, CPT certification, CPR, and crisis intervention training every two years. Proficiency in English required; Spanish desired.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 1-3 years of phlebotomy, ED technician, or nursing assistant experience in acute care preferred.
• Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English; Spanish language ability preferred.
• CPT certification (NHA Phlebotomy) or ASCP equivalent required.
• CPR certification required.
• Must complete Non-violent Crisis Intervention training bi-annually.

Responsibilities

• Collects blood specimens from patients according to physician orders and delivers to the laboratory.
• Posts laboratory results on the patient’s chart and inputs data into the database.
• Performs point-of-care testing and follows up on delayed results.
• Performs EKGs and monitors vital signs under supervision.
• Follows directions from a registered nurse or physician.

Overview

Collects blood specimens, according to physician orders, from emergency room patients and delivers the specimens to the laboratory for analysis. Posts laboratory results on the patient's chart, performs point of care testing, files laboratory results, inputs data into the database and follows up on delayed results. Performs selected tasks under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse or physician. Performs EKG's and monitors vital signs.

For positions that have only a rate listed, the displayed rate is the hiring rate but could be subject to change based on shift differential, experience, education or other relevant factors.

Responsibilities

• High School or equivalent Required
• 1-3 years Previous Phlebotomy, ED Technician or Nursing Assistant experience in an acute care setting Preferred
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English; ability to speak Spanish preferred.

Requirements

• CPT - Certified Phlebotomy Technician - National Healthcareer Association Phlebotomy certification or equivalent from ASCP Required
• Must complete Non-violent Crisis Intervention training on a bi-annual basis. Required
