Job description

City/State: Newburgh, New York. Department: Emergency Services. Bargaining Unit: 1199. Work Days: PER DIEM. Scheduled Hours: Vary. Scheduled Daily Hours: 7.5 HOURS. Hourly Rate/Range: $23.95 - $28.97. Sign-On Bonus: N/A. For positions that have only a rate listed, the displayed rate is the hiring rate but could be subject to change based on shift differential, experience, education or other relevant factors.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood specimens, according to physician orders, from emergency room patients and deliver the specimens to the laboratory for analysis.
• Post laboratory results on the patient's chart, perform point of care testing, file laboratory results, input data into the database and follow up on delayed results.
• Perform selected tasks under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse or physician.
• Perform EKGs and monitor vital signs.

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent (required)
• 1‑3 years previous Phlebotomy, ED Technician or Nursing Assistant experience in an acute care setting (preferred)
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English; ability to speak Spanish preferred.
• CPT - Certified Phlebotomy Technician (National Healthcareer Association Phlebotomy certification or equivalent from ASCP) (required)
• Must complete Non‑violent Crisis Intervention training on a bi‑annual basis (required)
• CPR required
