Endeavor Health's Evanston Hospital is hiring a Patient Safety Observer for day, evening, and night shifts. This per-diem role focuses on continuous patient monitoring, hazard reporting, and collaboration with nursing staff to ensure safety and dignity for all patients.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, Care Companion training within two weeks, CPR/BLS certification, and strong communication and multitasking skills.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Care Companion class completion within two weeks of start date.
• CPR/BLS certification from American Heart Association.
• Ability to read, communicate effectively and perform basic arithmetic.
• Ability to remain alert and focused for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Continuously observe and monitor assigned patients at bedside or via video systems.
• Maintain constant visual observation to ensure patient safety.
• Redirect patients from at-risk behaviors using in-person or audio communication.
• Notify nursing staff of patient needs or emergencies immediately.
• Participate in shift handoffs and communicate patient status.
• Help maintain a safe patient environment and report hazards.
• Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure patient safety and confidentiality.
