Job summary

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking a Patient Care Associate to join the Emergency Department Observation Unit on University Hospital. The PCA provides direct and indirect patient care under RN supervision, supporting the care team to meet patient needs and enhance outcomes.

Responsibilities include assisting with daily care activities, coordinating with family and team members, and ensuring adherence to unit protocols.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year of hospital aide experience or EMT certification or PCA training.
• Experience in an acute care environment preferred.
• Must meet mandatory educational and health requirements.
• Demonstrates computer skills required to meet job functions.

Responsibilities

• Provide a variety of direct and indirect patient care activities under RN supervision.
• Collaborate with patient, family and care team to achieve patient care outcomes.
• Assist with daily patient care tasks and prioritization on the unit.
• Support the care team in reducing length of stay and improving service levels.
