Job summary

Banner Health's University Medical Center Tucson is hiring a full-time Emergency Department Paramedic for day shift (7:00 AM–7:30 PM) with weekends/holidays rotating. You’ll provide critical care, monitor patients, perform IVs, push meds per physician orders, and collaborate with nurses and physicians in a fast-paced trauma center.

Candidates must have a state-paramedic license, current BLS/ACLS, PALS if ED/pediatric, and 2–4 years of experience or 12–18 months in an accredited program.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Paramedic certification or license in the state of practice.
• Current BLS and ACLS certification is required.
• PALS is required if working in the Emergency Department or with Pediatric population.
• 2-4 years of relevant work experience or 12-18 months in an educational program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates acuity level of patients and ensures appropriate matching of patient care needs to unit and hospital resources.
• Provides basic patient care within scope of training (positioning, phlebotomy, ECGs, spinal precautions).
• Administers or monitors medications as ordered by a physician.
• Starts IVs and manages fluid administration per orders.
• Manages airway and monitoring including oxygen, suctioning, ventilation and capnography.
• Resuscitates critically ill patients as assigned and documents assessments.
• Communicates changes in patient status to the charge nurse and physician.
• Documents assessments, progress, and discharge plans per unit guidelines.

Education
