Job summary

TriStar Centennial Medical Center is seeking an Emergency Department Float Pool Nurse to provide direct patient care within the RN scope, using therapeutic communication and an interdisciplinary approach to improve patient outcomes.

You will assess needs, administer medications, monitor vital signs, and educate patients and families as part of a multidisciplinary care planning team, serving as a clinical resource to staff.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) with the Tennessee Board of Nursing or compact state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 6 months of hire.
  • 2 years of clinical nursing experience in an emergency room is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assess plans and evaluate the patient care needs and will carry out physician orders.
  • Administer prescribed medications, change dressings, clean wounds, monitor vital signs.
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.
  • Instruct and educate patients and families as part of a multidisciplinary Care Planning team.

The Emergency Room Float Pool Nurse performs direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act.The RNutilizestherapeutic communication in daily practice,maintainsa safe therapeutic environment, andidentifiesnursing problems as they relate to the individual needs of the patient.This rolealsoplans individualized patient care whileutilizingan interdisciplinary approach,participatesin performance improvement activities, provides care,and coordinates participation that fosters the goals of the hospital’s mission and vision statement.

When acting inthechargenurserole,RNsare responsible forday-to-day activities to ensure the delivery of quality patient care in a therapeutic environment.Make staff assignments based on patient need,acuityand the skill of the staff. Serve as role models and clinical resource for the staff.Respond in a timely manner to requests for information or follow-up with physician, staff or patient issues.
