Novartis has an incredible opportunity for a talented individual to join our team as an Executive Director, Evidence Generation TA Head - Oncology. This leadership role will lead an Evidence Generation TA team supporting Oncology, driving a robust evidence generation and communication plan for priority pipeline and marketed assets in the US. In this role, the EG TA leader will be accountable for leading a team of researchers responsible for executing scientifically robust research including, but not limited to, real-world/HEOR studies, economic modeling, patient preference studies, and non-interventional studies. The EG leader will also be responsible for ensuring the entire US EG team’s portfolio of work is reflected in integrated evidence plans. Leads or co-leads the development and implementation of Research Collaborations (RCs) for population health initiatives and ensures strategic alignment for all US access-related Medical efforts in close collaboration with VEL, Market Access, Medical Directors, and other key internal collaborators. Serves as an EG leader seeking to innovate and create an industry-leading function in rigor, impact, and efficiency.

This position can be based remotely anywhere in the U.S. (some restrictions may apply based on legal entity). Please note that this role does not include relocation support. The working hours and travel expectations (domestic and/or international) will be defined by the hiring manager, with an expected 25% travel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Value Evidence Development & Execution - Responsible for EG leadership and partnership to develop and lead the implementation of evidence strategies through leadership in Oncology HEOR. Ensures EG strategy and value story/proposition are aligned, robust, evidence-based, and impactful. Collaborates with Medical Directors, VELs, and Market Access to ensure:
    • Efficient execution of cross-functional value-evidence strategies, evidence generation & communication plans across the product lifecycle for the US portfolio, with measurable impact.
    • Development of strategies for submissions and interactions with payer groups, regulatory authorities, the scientific community, technology companies, and industry, maintaining expertise on industry and policy trends affecting patient access and reimbursement.

Accountable for:

  • Quality of integrated value strategies, evidence generation, and communication plans
  • Timely availability of relevant and customized value data
  • Breadth, depth, and quality of technology partnerships to enhance evidence and value development
  • High team performance to advance US value & reimbursement strategies and execution

Innovation and Change - Drive new approaches to bring value through innovations. Evolve strategy to focus on high-impact research, advancing EG capabilities in alignment with other EG team leads.

External Thought Leadership and Partnership - Partner with external scientific leaders to shape Evidence Generation strategies. Anticipate changes in healthcare environment, including key regulatory, reimbursement, and value assessment bodies (e.g., FDA, CMS). Create strategic advantages through congress participation, scientific/medical exchanges, and leadership in external forums.

Business Partnering - Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders on research strategies, ensuring alignment with business and medical goals, and translating research into diverse audiences.

People and Culture - Lead and develop top talent within EG Oncology, fostering a culture aligned with Novartis values: "Unbossed", "Curious", and "Inspired". Provide coaching and feedback for high performance.

Operational Excellence - Develop and implement account/system-based plans, track business impact, and ensure alignment with key functions to optimize support and delivery.

Planning and Budget Management - Lead business planning, manage external budgets, and optimize investment impact.

Essential Requirements:

  • Advanced degree in Health Economics, Public Health, Epidemiology, or related field (Master's or higher)
  • PhD, MD, or PharmD preferred, with focus in relevant fields
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in Health Economics, Outcomes Research, or Market Access within biotech, pharma, or healthcare
  • At least 3 years of people management experience, leading large teams; experience leading field-based medical organizations preferred
  • Deep knowledge of US Payer environment, trends, and competitive landscape
  • Expertise in research methodologies, clinical study design, PRO measures, and analysis of claims and HER databases
  • Proven ability to develop economic or disease models for product valuation and impact assessment
  • Strong strategic, leadership, and communication skills, with ability to translate research into actionable insights

Compensation:

The salary range is $225,400 to $418,600 annually, determined by skills and experience. Compensation includes a performance-based incentive, potential equity awards, and comprehensive benefits.
