The extern must be enrolled in an accredited nursing program, possess a high school diploma, and have completed fundamentals such as Nursing Care, Pharmacology and Medication Administration. BLS certification is required.

The Advanced Nursing Extern will be responsible to provide patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The Extern's duties and responsibilities are limited to those that fall under the scope of practice of unlicensed health care providers acting under the direction of a licensed nurse as per the Alabama Board of Nursing. This individual shall support the department of Nursing, which include, but are not limited to, selected technical skills, data collection, and lab specimen collection. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.
High School diploma or equivalent required. Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program. Must have completed a MINIMUM of Fundamentals of Nursing Care, Pharmacology, and Medication Administration in Nursing School.
