Job summary

Global Connect Technologies is seeking an experienced ECU Lead Architect to drive end-to-end ECU definition, integration, and governance for HPCs, ZCUs, Domain Controllers, and centralized computing platforms.

You will translate vehicle requirements into a comprehensive ECU architecture spanning hardware, software, functional safety, cybersecurity, networking, diagnostics, performance, and deployment. Strong leadership across cross-functional teams is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, Software Engineering, or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, consolidate, and decompose functional, safety, cybersecurity, performance, and regulatory requirements allocated to the ECU
  • Establish and maintain the ECU technical baseline with traceability across requirements, architecture, implementation, verification, and release
  • Define, maintain, and govern ECU hardware, software, safety, cybersecurity, communication, diagnostics, and deployment architectures
  • Own and govern the ECU pinout architecture ensuring alignment across hardware, software, sensors, actuators, networks, and vehicle integration
  • Define resource allocation strategies covering processors, memory, communication networks, power management, I/O, and computing resources
  • Lead architecture reviews, technical reviews, design reviews, trade-off studies, and risk assessments
  • Drive convergence across Hardware, Software, Functional Safety, Cybersecurity, Network, Validation, Quality, Vehicle Integration
  • Provide visibility into architecture maturity, risks, open issues, dependencies, and mitigation plans
  • Support FMEA activities including Hardware/Software/FMEA and Safety Mechanism Analyses
  • Define verification strategies and performance targets for ECU and components

Job description

wWe are seeking an experienced ECU Lead Architect to serve as the technical authority for the end-to-end definition, integration, and governance of complex automotive Electronic Control Units (ECUs), including High Performance Computers (HPCs), Zonal Control Units (ZCUs), Domain Controllers, and centralized computing platforms

.The ECU Lead Architect will translate vehicle and system-level requirements into a coherent ECU architecture spanning hardware, software, functional safety, cybersecurity, networking, diagnostics, performance, and deployment. This role will work closely with System Engineering, Hardware, Software, Functional Safety, Cybersecurity, Validation, Vehicle Integration, Quality, and supplier teams to ensure technical consistency throughout the product lifecycle

.The successful candidate will provide strong technical leadership and ensure that the ECU architecture meets quality, safety, cybersecurity, regulatory, performance, cost, and industrialization objectives

.Key Responsibilitie
  • sAnalyze, consolidate, and decompose functional, safety, cybersecurity, performance, and regulatory requirements allocated to the ECU
  • .Establish and maintain the ECU technical baseline, including bidirectional traceability between requirements, architecture, implementation, verification, and release deliverables
  • .Define, maintain, and govern ECU hardware, software, safety, cybersecurity, communication, diagnostics, and deployment architectures
  • .Define resource allocation strategies covering processors, memory, communication networks, power management, I/O, and computing resources
  • .Own and govern the ECU pinout architecture, ensuring alignment across hardware, software, sensors, actuators, network interfaces, and vehicle integration requirements
  • .Allocate functional, safety, cybersecurity, performance, and non-functional requirements across hardware and software domains
  • .Derive and maintain Hardware Functional Requirements, Software Functional Requirements, Hardware Safety Requirements, Software Safety Requirements, and cybersecurity requirements
  • .Define and maintain hardware/software interfaces, communication interfaces, signal ownership, and interface specifications
  • .Develop and govern ECU state-management concepts, including startup/shutdown behavior, power modes, wake-up management, degraded modes, fault handling, and 12V power management strategies
  • .Define architectural solutions supporting ISO 26262 Functional Safety and ISO/SAE 21434 Cybersecurity compliance
  • .Provide technical leadership and support for FMEA activities, including Hardware FMEA, Software FMEA, and Safety Mechanism Analysis
  • .Define ECU-level verification strategies and performance targets, including startup time, timing constraints, runtime performance, communication performance, and resource utilization
  • .Define component-level and performance-component test strategies and support verification and validation activities
  • .Own the collection, maintenance, and configuration management of sensor, actuator, and external device datasheets in collaboration with DREs and hardware engineering teams
  • .Lead architecture reviews, technical reviews, design reviews, trade-off studies, and technical risk assessments
  • .Drive technical convergence across Hardware, Software, Functional Safety, Cybersecurity, Network, Validation, Quality, and Vehicle Integration teams
  • .Ensure alignment with program quality and industrialization milestones, including APQP, PPAP, PCIEE, and applicable product development governance processes
  • .Provide engineering leadership with clear visibility into architecture maturity, technical risks, open issues, dependencies, and mitigation plans
  • .Serve as the primary technical interface between internal engineering organizations, vehicle/system teams, and ECU suppliers
.Required Qualifications & Skill
  • sBachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • .Significant experience in automotive ECU, system, hardware, or software architecture for complex embedded systems
  • .Proven experience with HPCs, Zonal Control Units, Domain Controllers, or other safety-critical automotive computing platforms
  • .Strong understanding of automotive E/E architectures, Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) concepts, centralized computing, domain architectures, and zonal architectures
  • .Deep knowledge of embedded hardware platforms, microcontrollers, SoCs, multicore processors, operating systems, and middleware technologies
  • .Strong knowledge of AUTOSAR Classic and/or AUTOSAR Adaptive, diagnostics, networking, and service-oriented architectures
  • .Experience with requirements engineering, requirement allocation, system decomposition, architecture definition, and architecture modeling
  • .Strong understanding of ISO 26262 Functional Safety and ISO/SAE 21434 Cybersecurity Engineering
  • .Experience with FMEA, safety analysis, architectural trade-off studies, technical risk assessment, and mitigation planning
  • .Strong knowledge of automotive communication technologies, including

  • .Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams and external suppliers
  • .Professional proficiency in written and spoken English
.Preferred Qualification
  • sExperience with Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) and centralized/zonal E/E architecture programs
  • .Experience with high-performance automotive computing platforms and multi-domain integration
  • .Knowledge of automotive cybersecurity concepts, threat analysis and risk assessment (TARA), and secure communication
  • .Experience with architecture modeling tools such as Enterprise Architect, MATLAB/Simulink, SysML, or equivalent
  • .Experience working with global automotive OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, or ECU development organizations
  • .Strong understanding of vehicle-level integration, diagnostics, OTA, boot concepts, and ECU lifecycle management
