Job Description
ECSE Behavior Analyst: Architect of Connection

Location: Ferguson-Florissant School District Early Education

Year: 2026-2027 School Year

In our ECSE department, we believe that every behavior is a form of communication. We are looking for a dedicated, insightful Behavior Analyst who understands that for a 3-to-5-year-old, "acting out" is often a request for help. You are the specialist who decodes these signals, building strategies that help our youngest scholars feel safe, understood, and ready to learn.

As part of the Ferguson-Florissant "New Chapter," you will be a key leader in our commitment to trauma-informed, inclusive education. If you are passionate about using data to tell a child’s story and building environments where every student can thrive, your next movement starts here.

Role Summary

As an ECSE Behavior Analyst, you will provide expert behavioral support for students with diverse developmental needs in our Early Childhood Special Education classrooms. You will conduct functional behavioral assessments (FBAs), develop and monitor Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), and provide real-time coaching to teachers and assistants. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will ensure that social-emotional learning and positive behavioral supports are woven into the fabric of the preschool day.

Why You’ll Succeed (Qualifications)
  • Certified Professional: Valid Missouri Teaching Certification in Special Education (or related field) AND professional certification/training in behavior analysis.
  • Specialized Expertise: Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) preferred; or significant experience and coursework in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
  • Early Childhood Specialist: You understand that "behavioral intervention" for a preschooler must be play-based, compassionate, and developmentally appropriate.
  • Equity Champion: You are committed to neurodiversity-affirming practices and ensuring that behavioral supports honor the cultural identity of every child.
  • Collaborative Coach: You excel at breaking down complex behavioral data into actionable, easy-to-follow strategies for classroom teams and families.
Your Impact (Key Duties)
  • Diagnostic Detective: Lead the FBA process to identify the functions of challenging behaviors and design creative, effective intervention plans.
  • Classroom Catalyst: Provide hands‑on coaching and modeling for teachers and paraprofessionals, helping them implement "Tier 3" supports with confidence.
  • Data-Driven Success: Monitor student progress through precise data collection, adjusting strategies to ensure every child is making social‑emotional gains.
  • Crisis Prevention: Train staff in de‑escalation techniques and trauma‑informed responses that keep our classrooms safe and nurturing.
  • Family Partner: Empower parents with "bridge‑to‑home" strategies, ensuring a consistent support system for the child across all environments.
Your Leadership Partners
  • Primary Support: Director of Early Childhood Education
The Logistics of Your Success
  • Classification: Exempt, Certified Staff
  • Work Year: 10‑Month Academic Calendar (187 Days)
  • Salary: Based on the Teacher Salary Schedule (Determined by experience and education).
  • Benefits: Full‑time Eligibility (Medical, Dental, Vision, and Retirement).
The FFSD Advantage: Total Rewards & Support

We don't just hire specialists; we invest in behavioral leaders.

  • Multidisciplinary Support: Work alongside a full team of SLPs, OTs, PTs, and Social Workers who share your "Whole Child" philosophy.
  • Professional Growth: Generous professional development to maintain your BCBA or teaching credentials and stay at the forefront of ECSE research.
  • Health & Heart: 100% district-paid medical, dental, and vision plans, plus access to the Ferg-Flor Care clinic for your physical and mental wellness.
  • Impact that Lasts: Be part of the team that provides the early intervention that changes a child's entire K-12 trajectory.
