Job summary

Mercor is seeking a Remote Applied Economics & Finance Benchmark Specialist to author and curate advanced economics and finance questions for AI research labs. You will design self-contained problem statements, rate difficulty, and provide high-quality solutions with references.

The contract requires 10+ hours per week and pays $77–$98 per hour. Strong English writing and graduate-level economics expertise are essential for this role.

Qualifications

• PhD or doctoral candidate in Economics, Finance, or closely related field.
• Master's degree considered for exceptional depth in a subdomain.
• Strong command of graduate-level economic theory, quantitative methods, and financial modeling.
• Excellent written English ability.

Responsibilities

• Author original economics and finance questions that test deep concepts.
• Ensure questions are unambiguous, self-contained, and precise.
• Rate difficulty and provide 1 correct answer with 9 plausible alternatives.
• Provide step-by-step Chain-of-Thought solutions in markdown format.
• Supply 1–5 academic references per question from reputable sources.
• For verification tasks, flag issues and justify edits.

Position: Applied Economics & Finance Benchmark Specialist
Type: Contract
Compensation: $77–$98/hour
Location: Remote
Commitment: 10+ hours/week

Role Responsibilities

• Author original economics and finance questions that test deep conceptual understanding, not surface-level recall.


• Ensure questions are unambiguous, self-contained, and precisely defined with all necessary information in the problem statement.


• Rate each question's difficulty as Medium, Hard, or Expert, and provide 1 correct answer with 9 plausible but subtly incorrect alternatives.


• Write step-by-step Chain-of-Thought solutions with clear, concise intermediate steps in markdown format.


• Supply 1–5 academic references per question from reputable sources like peer-reviewed journals and university repositories.


• For verification tasks, flag issues with clarity, completeness, precision, or solvability and justify any edits made.
