Ozaukee County is seeking a Full-Time Economic Support Specialist to assist clients applying for healthcare, food, and childcare benefits. This role verifies client eligibility and monitors applications, ensuring timely support.
The ideal candidate will have an Associate’s Degree and strong communication skills, with knowledge of community resources. Benefits include health and dental insurance, paid holidays and a pension program.
Starting Pay: $26.68 - $34.09
The Economic Support Specialist assists in addressing public needs and works with clients applying for Healthcare/FoodShare/Childcare. The position determines if clients are eligible for benefits and also provides assistance to long‑term care applicants. The Specialist also refers clients to other county/statewide programs.
The following duties are primarily performed and are essential for this position. Employees are expected to be able to perform each of these job duties satisfactorily and successfully with or without reasonable accommodations to be qualified for the position. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Receives calls from a five‑county consortium for applications, renewals, interviews, changes. Provides program/budget explanations, referrals. Engages in conflict resolutions, document processing. Queries and monitors state databases.
Process cases in a time‑sensitive manner. Verifies due dates. Monitors Dashboard. Processes documents (applications, renewals, six‑month report, changes). Queries and monitors state databases. Uses mainframe, state wage match, Child support database.
Research and reviews policy/procedures for each program.
Engages outside sources calling in for clients or questions regarding benefits. Assists clients with outside sources for assistance (Forward Health, housing programs, legal services, state agencies).
