Job summary

The City of Bowie seeks an experienced Economic Development Director to organize, direct, and evaluate programs aimed at diversifying the tax base and promoting Bowie as a premier location for business and investment. The role reports to the City Manager and leads the Economic Development Team.

Ideal candidates have municipal government experience and the ability to communicate complex information to the City Council and stakeholders while balancing economic objectives with community priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in a related field.
• Seven years of progressively responsible experience in economic development with supervisory leadership.
• Experience in local government economic development is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support and lead the Economic Development Team in City initiatives.
• Advise City leadership on economic development opportunities, market conditions, and long-term policy.
• Maintain relationships with county, state, federal, and regional partners to attract investment.
• Oversee budgets, contracts, and professional services for the Economic Development division.
• Promote redevelopment, business development, and small business support.
