Position Overview
The Economic Empowerment and Housing Specialist is responsible for providing case management services related to finances, education, employment, and housing to survivors of domestic violence and gender-based violence on-site at the Family Justice Center.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized strengths-based financial, educational, and housing wellness screening and service plans based on client interests, skills, goals, and needs to support pathways to financial and housing stability.
- Conduct ongoing safety, risk assessment, and financial safety planning.
- Assist clients with budgeting, saving skills, credit, and debt management.
- Help clients navigate education, workforce, and employment resources, including training programs, financial aid, and job opportunities.
- Assist with housing resources and applications, addressing barriers to securing housing.
- Support clients in navigating public benefits and assist with application processes.
- Accompany clients to appointments as needed.
- Provide information and referrals to legal, social, mental health, and other services.
- Collaborate with onsite partner agencies to streamline services.
- Maintain digital records of services and client information in the FJC application.
- Support efforts to solicit client feedback and improve FJC operations.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field with 2-3 years of relevant experience, or an Associate's degree with 4-5 years of relevant experience.
- Experience assisting clients with public benefits such as Medicaid, SNAP, housing, etc.
- Strong commitment to equity, social justice, and continuous learning about diversity and inclusion.
- Sensitivity and knowledge of domestic violence issues within marginalized communities.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to handle confidential information discreetly and adapt to various demands.
- Flexibility with work schedule as needed.
