Job summary

Child Care Aware is seeking an Economic Empowerment Adult Education AmeriCorps Member in Virginia to support our Newcomer Education program. This is a one-year full‑time assignment focused on helping clients reach education, economic, financial and vocational goals through logistics and collaboration with community partners.

You'll work to ensure language access, develop educational partnerships, and communicate with participants and volunteers, with opportunities to teach topics like sewing,

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR) authorized to work in the U.S.
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must commit to one full term of service
• Must be high school graduate, GED recipient, or working toward attaining a high school diploma / GED during their term of service
• Must complete a National Service Criminal History check
• Driver’s license and a reliable vehicle
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong project management and attention to detail—must be able to keep track of multiple projects at once
• Strong layout, composition, and design skills
• Proficiency working across different systems such as G‑Suite, Office 365, Squarespace, Canva, Meta Suite, and LinkedIn and willingness to learn new platforms as needed
• Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with program staff, volunteers, and clients
• Familiarity with photography, including knowledge of composition, lighting, and editing a plus
• Flexible, willing to learn new things, and open to receive feedback and grow from challenges
• Ability to work well both independently as well as on a team
• Comfort working with people from diverse cultures

Economic Empowerment Adult Education AmeriCorps Member

The Economic Empowerment Adult Education AmeriCorps Member is a one-year position responsible for supporting programming designed to accompany our clients as they work towards their educational, economic, financial, and vocational goals. In this role, you will provide logistical support to our Newcomer Education Program. Newcomer Education centers around in‑person, group services that offer skill‑development, education, and community building opportunities. Programming is designed around expressed needs and is facilitated through intentional collaboration with community partners. The Newcomer Education team works to remove barriers to access often faced by clients, such as lack of transportation, language access, or childcare. Newcomer Education offers multi‑week courses that builds English proficiency and skills necessary for workforce development such as digital literacy, navigating projects, etc., while also building community.
