Job Description

AECOM is seeking an experienced and motivated full-time Ecological Risk Assessor to become an integrated member of AECOM’s risk assessment and remediation practices. The location of this position is flexible and may be either in-office or remote.

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  1. Supporting a wide range of projects for Federal clients throughout the U.S. (and internationally).
  2. Must be willing to perform field work, as needed.
  3. Performing ecological risk assessments in accordance with regulatory guidance and project-specific work plans.
  4. Developing Risk Assessment Work Plans and contributing to Sampling and Analysis Plans/Quality Assurance Project Plans.
  5. Successfully coordinating with internal project teams, including delegating to junior staff.
  6. Preparing technical deliverables; including writing reports and performing/reviewing risk assessment calculations.
  7. Maintaining knowledge of federal and state regulations/guidance documents for conducting risk assessments.
  8. Maintaining work quality, quantity, and efficiency at or above company standards.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  1. BA/BS degree in Environmental Science/Studies, Chemistry, Toxicology, Biology, Ecology, Zoology or other related area and 4+ years of experience performing ecological risk assessments in an environmental consulting setting and/or a demonstrated equivalency of education and experience.
  2. Due to the nature of work, US Citizenship is required.
  3. Valid Driver’s License and as a condition of employment must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records and background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience performing data analysis and applied statistics.
  2. Applied knowledge of USEPA Ecological Risk Assessment Guidance for Superfund.
  3. Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
  4. Experience evaluating PFAS, PCBs, and lead.
  5. CERCLA experience with Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, and ROD development.
  6. Experience working on Navy or Department of Defense projects.
  7. Experience dealing with the Hawaii Department of Health and EPA Region 9.
  8. Experience working with projects in Hawaii, Guam and other Pacific Islands.
  9. Preferred work location Hawaii.
  10. Experience performing wildlife assessments.

Additional Information

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $70,000.00 - $90,000.00.
