Job summary

Hampton, Lenzini and Renwick, Inc. (HLR) invites applications for a summer position in the Environmental Department. You will gain hands-on experience in native plant identification, herbicide application, and mechanical control of wetlands, prairies, and lakes while contributing to native area management projects.

The role requires 18+ years of age, a valid driver’s license, and willingness to work outdoors in varied conditions; licensing assistance is provided for pesticide requirements.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Illinois Pesticide Applicator or Operators License required 60 days prior to employment (HLR will assist with licensing fees)
  • Experience communicating with residents or stakeholders
  • Enthusiastic, courteous, positive attitude and team spirit
  • Ecology background a plus but not necessary

Responsibilities

  • Work full time/part time, approximately 8-12 hours per day.
  • Perform Field work, herbicide application and mechanical control (using brush cutters, mowers and hand tools).
  • Live plant, shrub and tree installation, algae control applications, tree and shrub removal, litter pick up and seed erosion control blanket installation.
  • Use power tools, trailers and motorized equipment to perform work
