Come work with us!

Do you enjoy working outdoors, staying active, and engaging with the public? As part of the Infrastructure Maintenance team, the Eco Station Attendant plays a hands-on role in supporting a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable community. This is your opportunity to make a visible impact and help residents dispose of their materials in a safe and environmentally responsible way.

What is the opportunity?

As an Eco Station Attendant, you’ll be the first point of contact for residents visiting the Eco Station. Reporting to the Eco Station Supervisor, this role plays an essential part in ensuring residents can dispose of their recycling and waste safely and responsibly. You’ll be responsible for helping maintain a clean, organized site that meets Alberta Recycling Management Authority standards, while also guiding the public in proper sorting and disposal to reduce contamination and improve site efficiency.

This is a hands-on, outdoor position that requires physical activity year-round, including clearing ice and snow during the winter months. If you enjoy working independently, engaging with the public, and being part of a team that supports sustainability and public safety, this could be a great fit for you.

What will you do?
  • Assist residents with sorting and disposing of items at the Eco Station

  • Inspect materials and remove any contamination

  • Safely receive, store, and prepare household hazardous waste for pick-up

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the worksite

  • Complete records and reports, including E-waste tracking and daily deposits

  • Communicate with contractors to schedule bin pickups

  • Collect fees and handle monetary transactions

  • Respond to public questions about disposal processes and station use

Who you are:
  • You have a high school diploma and at least two (2) years of experience in a customer-facing role

  • You’re approachable, safety-minded, and take pride in providing excellent service

  • You’re physically able to lift heavy materials and work outdoors in various weather conditions

  • You have a valid Class 5 driver’s license

  • You’re willing and able to complete WHMIS, TDG, and emergency first aid training

  • You’re comfortable working independently and as part of a small, hands-on team

  • You’re knowledgeable (or eager to learn) about household hazardous waste

What we Offer?

At the City of Leduc, we believe in taking care of our people. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Competitive Salary: $22.12 - $27.65 Hourly

  • Comprehensive Benefits: Health, dental, and wellness benefits, including a healthcare spending account

  • Pension Plan: Participation in LAPP (Local Authorities Pension Plan)

  • Recreation Pass: Free annual City of Leduc recreation pass with access to drop-in programs

  • Time Off: Starting at 3 weeks of vacation per year

  • Free Parking: On-site free parking for employees

  • Professional Development: Training and growth opportunities to support your long-term goals
