Job summary

UTMB Health is seeking a licensed ECMO Specialist to coordinate and manage extracorporeal life support for neonate, pediatric, and adult patients across high-acuity ICUs. The role requires at least two years in critical care or completion of an accredited perfusion program, with CCP licensure and BLS.

The ES will lead device management, patient monitoring, and emergency responses, while collaborating with physicians and the ECMO team to implement optimal care plans and quality improvements.

Qualifications

• Satisfactory maintenance of clinical competencies: attendance to quarterly water drills.
• Graduate of Perfusion Program preferred; 2 years ICU experience or perfusion training.
• Current BLS from American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with ECMO team leadership to educate, mentor and precept ES I & II.
• Maintain and troubleshoot ECMO/MCS equipment and monitor circuit integrity.
• Identify patients for ECLS/MCS therapies and coordinate initiation of support.
• Document care and ensure accurate EMR/charting with hourly updates.
• Coordinate emergencies and provide rapid response within ECMO protocols.
