Job summary

The ECMO Specialist position at Baptist Health is a licensed RN who operates ECMO equipment at the bedside in the ICU. You will care for patients on ECMO to ensure high‑quality, patient- and family-centered care during night shifts (1830–0700) with a biweekly 72-hour schedule.

Requires an accredited RN program, a year of acute critical care RN experience, CPR/ACLS, and familiarity with ECMO physiology. ECMO education is provided by the ECMO Coordinator.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited RN program.
• Minimum of 1 year of RN experience in an acute critical care.
• ECMO experience preferred.
• Must understand Extracorporeal physiology, patient selection, disease processes, and management.
• Emergency troubleshooting skills.
• A preceptorship will be completed.
• Healthcare CPR and ACLS is required.
• Must have current on education provided by the ECMO Coordinator.

Responsibilities

• Operate ECMO equipment at the bedside in the ICU.
• Provide care for patients undergoing ECMO support to assure high‑quality patient and family centered care.
• Collaborate with the ECMO team to ensure safety and protocol adherence.
• Respond to emergencies and perform troubleshooting as needed.

Summary

The ECMO Specialist position is a licensed Registered Nurse (RN), who is an experienced clinician who provides skilled operation of the extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) equipment at the bedside in the ICU environment. Provides care for the patient undergoing ECMO support to assure high quality patient and family centered care.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Graduate from an accredited RN program.


• Minimum of 1 (one) year of RN experience in an acute critical care.


• ECMO experience preferred.


• Must have thorough understanding of Extracorporeal physiology, patient selection, disease processes, and management.


• Emergency troubleshooting skills.


• A preceptorship will be completed.


• Healthcare CPR and ACLS is required.


• Must have current on education provided by the ECMO Coordinator.

This job will be authorized 72.00 hours bi-weekly.
