Under the direction of the Respiratory Therapy management and according to UNCH and departmental policies and procedures, the ECMO Specialist is responsible for monitoring and troubleshooting the ECMO circuit and related equipment during treatment. Collaborates with bedside RNs, physicians, and the healthcare team to coordinate care for complex patients.
Education: Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy or Nursing from an accredited program.
Licensure/Certification: Licensed Respiratory Therapist by NC Respiratory Care Board and registry eligible, or licensed RN in North Carolina.
Experience: Minimum two years as a Registered Nurse or Respiratory Therapist.
Skills/Abilities: Advanced knowledge of extracorporeal support principles, excellent communication, critical thinking, stress management, and flexibility to work shifts.
