Qualifications

About the Role

Job Title: ECMO Coordinator

Location: Anchorage, Alaska

(On-Site; Must be local and within driving distance)

Employment Status: Full-Time position

Compensation and Benefits
  • Competitive compensation is offered, with base salary ranging from $120,000 to $140,000 per year.
  • Integration Health offers 100% employer-paid health, vision, and dental insurance for full-time employees. Dependent coverage is available, with 70% of dependent costs paid by Integration Health and 30% deducted from the employee\'s payroll.
  • Full-time employees are covered under the Integration Health term life, accidental death and dismemberment, and short and long-term disability plans. Premiums are paid by Integration Health.
  • Employees may elect to participate in the employer\'s Guideline 401(k) retirement plan with pre-tax or Roth contributions. Employer matches 100% of the first 1% of deferrals and 50% of deferrals between 1% and 6% of salary.

Job Responsibilities
  • Understand and promote company ECMO staffing, education and transport offerings.
  • The ECLS Co-Coordinator is expected to provide on-call availability with 45-minute recall to the hospital.
  • Coordinators will be available to the executives of Integration Health, hospital leadership and direct reports during business and off-business hours for emergencies.
  • Setup, prime and initiation of ECMO support.
  • Accurately identify and diagnose ECMO circuit/component issues and provide safe alternatives to rectify the issue; evaluate and communicate results.
  • Evaluate patients’ medical records and make recommendations based on physicians\' orders and goals.
  • Coordinate and conduct ECMO didactic education as well as simulation (wet lab) education as requested.
  • Maintain professionalism and strong interpersonal communications with all team members, hospital staff, patients and families; demonstrate courteous, sincere and sensitive customer service.
  • Work with the Integration Health Co-Owners, Nursing Leadership Team, Respiratory Care Leadership Team, Perfusion and ECMO Medical Directors to define quality initiatives for the ECLS program.
  • Comply with hospital initiatives and quality improvement projects within the organization.
  • Participate in formal mortality and morbidity review of ECMO cases with the medical directors.
  • Consider safety, effectiveness, knowledge and skill of team members, as well as cost, in planning and delivering care.
  • Ensure ECLS equipment is in working order and disposable equipment is available.
  • Order or rent additional equipment as needed.
  • Comply with hospital performance standards and model positive leadership for others.
  • Provide didactic training, bedside orientation and precept new ECMO Specialists to deliver patient- and family-centered care.
  • Provide ongoing feedback to employees regarding work performance through verbal and written communication.
  • Encourage professionalism and leadership among team members.
  • Ensure appropriate ECMO scheduling and staffing levels are maintained.
  • Actively participate in the growth of the program and implementation of new initiatives.
  • Participate in committees and meetings.
  • Complete ECMO team training and hospital-based competencies; determine needed educational activities for new procedures or equipment, implement and document education.
  • Coordinate the use of new equipment across program areas and ensure end users understand operations.
  • Develop and review hospital-based education for patients and families.
  • Oversee hospital-specific training materials and competency checklists for ECMO Specialists.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm for Integration Health and the ECMO program in all interactions.
  • Resolve client complaints by engaging additional company resources as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by the executive leadership team.
  • Bachelor’s degree desirable in nursing, respiratory care or perfusion technology from an accredited program.
