Job description

Job Responsibilities
  • Equipment Maintenance: Coordinate with the Clinical Engineering department for the preventative maintenance and routine equipment checks of all ECMO related equipment, maintain knowledge of the entire disposable inventory management process (inventory management, ordering, and receiving), develop processes for equipment maintenance, and coordinate with outside vendors for maintenance and preventative maintenance.
  • Equipment Management & Critical Thinking: Demonstrate strong critical thinking skills by making appropriate clinical decisions, rapidly prioritizing both planned and unplanned events, proactively addressing potential problems, and directing others to solve complex problems.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with team members in shared decision‑making, proactively seek input from the interdisciplinary team in meetings and discussions regarding patient care and practice issues, coach others to respect each discipline’s contributions, assist others to work collaboratively, participate in point‑of‑care or divisional councils, committees, task forces, or projects, and work to build consensus while explaining complex and sensitive processes.
  • Operations: Design and assemble ECMO circuits and prepare the circuit for patient use, operate, maintain, calibrate, and perform quality control testing on all point‑of‑care laboratory equipment per Cincinnati Children’s Clinical Laboratory protocols and CLIA requirements, provide support for other extracorporeal technologies within the scope of licensure (including VAD and CRRT), and collaborate with providers/surgeons to initiate and manage ECMO support and additional extracorporeal therapies as guided by protocols.
  • Process Improvement: Use clinical inquiry and performance review to improve…question the appropriateness of policies, guidelines, and procedures, seek advice or resources to improve processes, compare alternatives, precept new ECMO specialists, share knowledge at the point of care, facilitate learning for healthcare team members, and promote safe and ethical practice through self‑appraisal, peer review, and annual goal setting.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • RN/RRT clinical license, certification and training, or advanced training in circulation technology from a CAAHEP‑accredited program plus certification by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion; alternatively, eligibility and active pursuit of this certification with attainment in the first year of employment.
  • At least 2 years of related work experience.
  • Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Neonatal Resuscitation.
Location & Schedule

Primary Location: Burnet Campus.
Schedule: Full time, rotating shift.

Compensation

Annualized pay may vary based on FTE status: $44.00 - $56.10 per hour.
