Job summary

Geisinger is seeking a skilled Echocardiography Sonographer to join the GMC team on day shifts. You will perform and assist with a range of cardiac imaging procedures, while adhering to ASE guidelines and ALARA principles.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from Specialty Training Program and ARRT/ARDMS/CCI certification within 6 months.
  • Adult Echocardiography: ARDMS AE or CCI credential.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Acquire echocardiographic examinations and maintain normal operation of the adult echocardiography laboratory.
  • Perform or assist licensed practitioner in completing cardiac imaging procedures.
  • Prepare and document ultrasound enhancing agents in accordance with laws and policy.
  • Ensure proper patient identification, preparation, and documentation with confidentiality in mind.
  • Apply imaging protocols and optimize factors while maximizing patient safety (ALARA).
  • Evaluate images for quality and ensure data archiving/transfer as applicable.

Job Duties
  • Responsible for a variety of technical duties necessary to the acquisition of echocardiographic examinations and maintenance of the normal operation of the adult echocardiography laboratory.
  • Cardiac sonographers independently perform or assist the licensed practitioner in the completion of various cardiac imaging procedures.
  • Sonographers prepare, administer and document activities related to ultrasound enhancing agents in accordance with federal and state laws, regulations, or lawful institutional policy.
  • Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range in their assigned department.
  • Ensures correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality.
  • Utilizes appropriate imaging protocol and optimizes technical factors while maximizing patient safety, optimizing patient care, and applying principles of ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable).
  • Preparing and/or administering, as applicable, medications through new or existing vascular access site as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Evaluates images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality and verifies archival storage and/or transfer of data, post processing of data if applicable.
  • Educating and monitoring students and other health care providers.
  • Preparing and/or administering ultrasound enhancing agents through new or existing vascular access site in accordance with ASE guidelines for appropriate use.
  • Communicates abnormal and unexpected findings with the provider to prioritize the need for additional testing or urgency of care with the licensed provider.
  • Collaborating with a licensed practitioner in the performance of sonographic interventional procedures.
  • Ensuring equipment parameters for diagnostic and interventional procedures are of optimal technical and administrative quality as requested by a licensed practitioner.
  • Performing diagnostic, interventional, sonographic procedures as prescribed by a licensed practitioner or during appropriate educational activities.
  • Work is typically performed in a clinical environment.
  • Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures.
Position Details

Join our team and receive up to a $15.000 joining bonus, plus, relocation assistance for qualified candidates. Hours: Days/ 7:30 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. On Call: Weeknight, Weekend and Holiday rotation required. Details will be discussed during interview process Great learning opportunities. Certifications Required upon Hire
  • Graduate from Specialty Training Program Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) as a sonographer or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) certification within 6 months.
  • Adult Echocardiography: ARDMS (AE) or CCI credential.
