Position : Echocardiography Technologist
What You'll Do : As an Echocardio Technologist, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic cardiac sonography and echocardiography studies under the direction of a physician. The role demands precision and compliance with hospital standards to ensure optimal diagnostic results and patient care.
- Direct Patient Care : Assisting with observation, positioning, personal hygiene, toileting, and ambulation of patients.
- Safety and Comfort : Maintaining a clean, safe, and pleasant environment for patients and their families.
- Administrative Support : Performing clerical tasks, patient billing, treatment authorizations, medical records management, and scheduling.
- Team Collaboration : Working closely with the healthcare team, including Registered Nurses, to ensure adherence to hospital policies and procedures.
- Patient Advocacy : Ensuring patient safety and well-being, following hospital standards of care and individual patient needs.
What We're Looking For :
- Experience :
- One (1) to Two (2) years of proven experience as an Echo Tech preferably in a hospital or clinical setting.
- Skills :
- Strong understanding of echocardiographic image interpretation and ability to identify normal and abnormal cardiac conditions.
- Excellent patient communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Education :
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate's degree in Echocardiography or Cardiovascular Technology.
- Completion of an accredited program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Cardiac Ultrasound.
- Licenses / Certifications :
- Certification as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or equivalent
- Current BLS certification
- Must complete and maintain LA City Fire Card certification at the time of hire or within the first 30 days of employment
- Must complete and maintain Management of Assaultive Behavior (MOAB) training within the first 30 days of employment / transfer

Specific Responsibilities :
- Perform echocardiograms to assess different aspects of the heart, such as chamber size, valve function, and blood flow.
- Prepare patients for procedures by explaining the process, answering questions, and ensuring patient comfort.
- Operate ultrasound equipment to capture images of cardiac anatomy and function.
- Analyze the results from diagnostic tests and provide findings to the cardiologist.
- Maintain patient records and add echocardiographic data to patient charts.
- Ensure all echocardiography equipment is functioning accurately, conduct routine checks, and report any malfunctions.
- Collaborate with other healthcare team members to provide comprehensive cardiovascular care.
- Adhere to departmental policies and procedures to comply with regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Educate patients on the management of their heart conditions based on echocardiographic diagnostics when necessary.
