Job summary

Fort HealthCare is seeking an Echocardiographer for the day shift in Fort Atkinson, WI. This 0.75 FTE role has no weekend or on-call requirements and supports a patient-centered Radiology team.

The candidate will perform high-quality non-invasive cardiac ultrasounds, document findings, and collaborate with physicians. Competitive pay and comprehensive benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Ultrasonography, Radiology, Biological Sciences or relevant health sciences field preferred.
• 2 years of echocardiography experience preferred.
• Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer Certification by ARDMS; BLS Certificate required.

Responsibilities

• Performs cardiac ultrasound procedures according to established imaging protocols.
• Calculates measurements and records findings for interpreting physician.
• Performs contrast administration and agitated saline studies; initiates IV placement as needed.
• Reviews patient records and orders to ensure exam accuracy.
• Communicates with patients and families to explain procedures and outcomes.
• Coordinates with support staff for equipment maintenance and cleanings.
• Maintains familiarity with EHR and PACS; documents images and measurements.

The Echocardiographer performs high-quality, non-invasive cardiac ultrasound procedures to assist in the diagnosis and management of cardiovascular disease. The Echocardiographer applies critical thinking and cognitive sonographic skills to evaluate and document anatomical and pathological findings, adjusting procedures as necessary to ensure accurate diagnostic information. Exams are performed within standard protocols on adult and geriatric patients, and occasionally on adolescent age groups in an outpatient and inpatient setting.

Responsibilities of this position include:

• Performs cardiac ultrasound procedures according to established imaging protocols. Calculates measurements of echocardiographic structures and records clinical findings for interpreting physician.
• Performs contrast administration and agitated saline bubble studies, initiating IV placement if necessary.
• Informs interpreting physician and appropriate team members if an abnormal finding or significant change is present from previous examination.
• Reviews patient's medical record to obtain necessary clinical information including patient history, lab results, and physician orders. Obtains necessary clinical information from patients and compares requisition to provider's orders to ensure exam accuracy.
• Communicates to patient and family members in a timely and thorough manner that enhances the patient experience and promotes learning to understand procedures, symptoms, and to support health care outcomes.
• Requests maintenance to echocardiography imaging equipment as necessary to maintain optimal working condition. Coordinates with appropriate support personnel for routine maintenance of echocardiography imaging equipment.
• Cleans echocardiography equipment according to the manufacture's guidelines.
• Demonstrates working knowledge of computer applications (EHR and PACS). Prepares images, records anatomical measurements and clinical findings in cardiac imaging management system.
