Job summary

Bayhealth is seeking an Echocardiography Technologist to perform comprehensive cardiac imaging across Kent and Sussex campuses, with 50% float between locations. Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• BLS and ARDMS/RDCS credentialing preferred.
• Two years of hands-on echocardiography experience is expected.

Responsibilities

• Perform transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiograms per physician orders.
• Administer IV contrast and agitated saline bubble studies when indicated.
• Conduct additional cardiac tests (EKG, Holter, stress tests) as assigned.
• Operate imaging and monitoring equipment to obtain quality studies.
• Ensure proper scheduling, charging, and hospital information system use.
• Maintain infection control practices and equipment disinfection.
• Mentor students and provide clinical guidance per agreements.
• Adhere to age-specific guidelines for neonatal and pediatric patients.
• Fulfill other duties within scope of responsibilities.

SALARY RANGE: 37.98 + BOE HOURLY

General Summary:

Perform direct patient cardiac diagnostic testing procedures with appropriate level of skill; in a timely and dependable manner consistent with current standards of care and departmental and/or hospital policy and procedure. Provide age specific care to patients of all ages. Serve as a professional resource to physicians, nursing staff and all other hospital staff.

Responsibilities:

• 1. Accurately perform all echocardiogram studies ordered by physicians, including, but limited to; Transthoracic 2-D, M-Mode, Color-flow Doppler, Transesophageal, Exercise stress and pharmacological echocardiography.
• 2. Perform IV contrast administration and agitated saline bubble studies.
• 3. Accurately perform other cardiac diagnostic studies as assigned, including but not limited to: EKG, Holter prep, monitoring and analysis and Cardiac stress tests.
• 4. Correctly utilizes mechanical devices to provide the best diagnostic information to cardiology physicians to include but not limited to: echocardiographs, cardiac stress systems, electrocardiographs, Holter monitors and computer analysis.
• 5. Accurately assesses hospital information systems for scheduling, processing and correct charging of all studies.
• 6. Implement appropriate infection control practices and demonstrates a working knowledge of aseptic techniques and equipment disinfection.
• 7. Interacts with students from contracted colleges and universities, providing preceptorship and clinical guidance as per contracted agreements.
• 8. Demonstrates the ability to perform cardiac diagnostic tests following age specific guidelines and procedures, specifically with neonatal and pediatric patients.
• 9. All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.

Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience:

• Education: High School Diploma or GED
• Credential(s): Basic Life Support, Registered Cardiac Sonographer; Or RDCS through ARDMS
• Experience: Successful completion of certification program and/or two years hands-on experience with echocardiography

Preferred Education, Credential(s) and Experience:

• Education: Certificate Program ; Cardiovascular Sonography
• Credential(s): None
• Experience: Extensive experience in echocardiography studies in a hospital setting. Extensive experience in both pediatric and neonatal echocardiography.
