Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health in Somerset, NJ seeks a Certified Echocardiograph Technician to perform diagnostic echocardiography and report findings to cardiology teams. You will support procedures and maintain documentation and equipment integrity.

Full-time day shift with on-call, holiday and weekend rotations. Must have echocardiography training and at least one year of formal training; registry eligibility preferred. Competitive hourly pay in the NJ market and comprehensive benefits.

Responsibilities

Operate and prepare ultrasound equipment (Echo, treadmill, stress, contrast, TEE).
Record data and monitor studies; ensure networked to Lumedex Cardiopacs.
Prepare patients, provide education, and position for exam.
Obtain pertinent clinical data and medical history; assist in other cardiac diagnostics.
Enter charges and maintain records in hospital systems.

Echocardiograph Technician (Certified)

Location: RWJ Somerset, 110 Rehill Ave, Somerville, NJ 08876

Department: Non-Invasive Cardiac Lab

Schedule: Full-time, Day Shift (7 AM – 3:30 PM), with on‑call, holiday, and weekend rotations.

Pay: $50.91 – $62.55 per hour (NJ)

Job Overview

Perform diagnostic echocardiography studies, record and digitally capture data, and report critical findings to the cardiologist. Assist cardiovascular procedures and ensure accurate documentation and system networking.

Required Qualifications

Echocardiography technologist training required.
Fully trained echocardiography technologist with at least one year of formal training; accredited school of cardiovascular technology preferred.
Eligibility for R.D.M.S. Registry is desired.

Experience

Minimum one year experience; if no formal cardiac ultrasound training, minimum three years.

Special Physical Demands

Must be able to reach and mobilize within the department and other hospital departments.
Manual dexterity and visual acuity necessary for precise performance of essential job duties.
Hearing and speech sufficient for direct and telephone communication.
Ability to function under rapidly changing and stressful conditions.
Can sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift as required.

Scheduling Requirements

Full time, days 7 AM – 3:30 PM.
On call, holiday, and weekend rotations required.

Essential Functions

Select and prepare appropriate ultrasound equipment (Echo, treadmill, bike, stress, contrast, TEE).
Prepare and monitor recording devices and vital sign monitors; manage IV sets and medications as needed.
Prepare patients, provide education, and position for exam.
Obtain pertinent clinical data and medical history.
Assist in other cardiac diagnostics under physician supervision.
Confirm studies are networked to Lumedex Cardiopacs.
Maintain accurate records and enter charges into the hospital computer system.
