The Echocardiogram Technologist uses ultrasound to visualize internal cardiac structures, obtain measurements of cardiac valves, ventricles, and the left atrium, and visualize blood flow. The technologist assists physicians with complex ultrasound procedures, performs electrocardiograms as per protocol, and expands examinations based on observed abnormalities. They gather patient information from the patient, medical charts, and physicians. The technologist selects appropriate transducers and machine settings for optimal imaging, maintains records of all procedures, sends reports to requesting physicians, and archives the recordings and reports. Ensuring all equipment is calibrated correctly on a monthly basis is also part of the role.
