Job summary

Surgery Partners, Inc. is seeking an Ultrasound Technician to join the Lubbock Heart team on a PRN with on-call basis. The role involves patient positioning, equipment adjustment, and guiding patients through procedures within the Lubbock Heart Hospital setting.

Key responsibilities include ensuring safety standards, maintaining exam rooms, and coordinating studies with physicians. A national/state registry course or licensure eligibility is required, with BLS certification and RDMS preferred.

Qualifications

  • Successfully completed an accredited course for national and/or state registry or licensure eligibility.
  • RDMS preferred.
  • Maintains current BLS certification.

Job description

Ultrasound Technician – PRN with On‑Call

We are looking for a dedicated Ultrasound Technician to join the Lubbock Heart team.

Responsibilities
  • Report to the workstation on time and as scheduled, remaining at the workstation until relieved or at the end of the shift.
  • Position patients and adjust equipment for each procedure.
  • Instruct patients regarding procedures.
  • Follow prescribed safety standards.
  • Maintain examination rooms and ensure they are clean and organized.
  • Follow confidentiality standards.
  • Participate in standby for assigned modalities and scheduled studies. When on‑call paged, make a prompt call to the hospital to determine the study to be performed; travel time to report for the study will be kept within twenty‑five (25) minutes.
  • Wear clean, pressed uniforms at all times on duty unless otherwise directed by the Radiology Director or designee.
  • Complete all necessary forms for each study conducted and coordinate each study with the requesting physician; if absent, follow instructions on the request form/transmission and verify each order against the physician’s order prior to beginning the exam.
  • Check arm band on each patient for proper identification.
  • Adhere to Lubbock Heart Hospital policies for time and attendance recording.
  • Participate in quality improvement and quality control projects as assigned.
  • Follow departmental policies and protocols for each exam performed.
  • Maintain licensure and/or certification(s) for all assigned modalities.
  • Maintain supplies in the assigned area and follow hospital policies for ordering and gathering supplies.
  • Participate in inventories of supplies as assigned.
  • Report any mechanical or system problems to the Director or designee.
  • Demonstrate initiative in work habits while maintaining a professional demeanor with all hospital staff, guests, visitors, patients and physicians.
  • Efficiently perform all duties assigned and work toward maintaining budgetary goals.
  • Be aware of incident occurrences within the work area and report within twenty‑four (24) hours to the supervisor using the proper form(s).
  • Handle patient complaints in accordance with Lubbock Heart Hospital policy.
  • Assist in the development of new CPT codes for the purpose of the Lubbock Heart Hospital and Department Charge Masters.
  • Assist in the development of policies and procedures within the assigned modalities.
Qualifications
  • Successfully completed an accredited course for national and/or state registry or has successfully gained licensure/certification(s) eligibility through experience.
  • RDMS preferred.
  • Maintains current BLS certification.
