Qualifications

  • Successfully passed the Echocardiography Registry Exam.
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer or Registered Cardiac Sonographer required.
  • 1 year related experience in an Echo/Vascular Laboratory preferred.

Job description

**Responsibilities**

Under general supervision, the Echo Vascular Technologist is responsible for performing ultrasound examinations of the cerebral, peripheral, and abdominal vessels to assist physicians in diagnosing disorders affecting circulation, following established practices and procedures.

**Essential Key Job Responsibilities**

  1. Produce two-dimensional ultrasonic recordings and Doppler flow analyses of the heart and related structures using ultrasound equipment for physician diagnosis of heart disease and study of the heart.
  2. Calculate, measure, and document relevant values on tests for review and interpretation by physicians.
  3. Perform diagnostic carotid arterial and venous studies of upper and lower extremities, as well as venous studies for patients with suspected peripheral vascular disease, following ICAVL guidelines.
  4. Explain procedures to patients to obtain cooperation and reduce anxiety.
  5. Review test results with interpreting physicians.
  6. Communicate with physicians, managers, and co-workers about changes in patient’s clinical conditions during echocardiograms.
  7. Conduct vascular laboratory studies according to protocols.
  8. Maintain the vascular laboratory quality assurance database.
  9. May perform therapeutic procedures such as peripheral compression.
  10. Prepare and maintain operational logs.
  11. Schedule vascular laboratory studies appropriately to meet clinical needs.
  12. Calibrate and maintain equipment; order supplies as needed.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**

**Education Required**

  • HS/GED
  • Successfully passed the Echocardiography Registry Exam

**Preferred**

  • Associate degree in a related field

**Licensure/Certification Required**

  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (only one required)

**Preferred**

  • Registered Vascular Technologist
  • Registered Vascular Sonographer

**Experience Required**

  • None

**Preferred**

  • 1 year related experience in an Echo/Vascular Laboratory
