Job Description

Echo/Vascular Technician – Saint Joseph Hospital, Denver, Colorado.

This position performs a variety of diagnostic cardiac and vascular exams under the direction of a physician to identify cardiac or venous abnormalities and support patient diagnosis. The technician assists the clinical team in delivering high‑quality ultrasound examinations and ensures patient safety and comfort.

Shift: Full‑time, 40 hours per week, variable schedule with 10‑hour days and rotating Saturdays.

Essential Functions

• Demonstrate technical competence in departmental protocols.
• Prioritize and schedule exams, coordinating with physicians, medical staff, and patients.
• Prepare patients, explain procedures, and transport them as needed before performing ultrasound exams.
• Maintain patient safety and comfort throughout each exam, and communicate needs with the care team.
• Return patients to room after exams, ensuring stability and safety.
• Mentor junior staff and students on equipment use and procedural technique.
• Document exam results accurately and apply appropriate charge codes.
• Clean and maintain mandatory equipment, work area, and supplies; coordinate repairs if needed.
• Support quality improvement initiatives and team processes.
• Participate in continuing education to sustain clinical competence and acquire new skills.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• ARDMS or CCI certification in cardiac or vascular sonography.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• At least one year of relevant experience.

Physical Requirements

• Manual dexterity to manipulate equipment and use a computer for documentation.
• Capacity to lift, carry, and move patients and equipment, including heavy items.
• Ability to walk, push, or pull gurneys and portable equipment in busy clinical areas.

Location & Hours

Saint Joseph Hospital – Denver, Colorado.

40 weekly hours. Salary range $39.16 – $60.42 per hour, based on experience.
