Position Summary

Dr. P. Phillips Hospital is a 285‑bed facility in southwest Orange County, Orlando, providing diagnostic imaging and patient care within a 24/7 environment.

Responsibilities
  • Provides quality patient care while performing diagnostic imaging and related procedures, ensuring safe image acquisition and patient cooperation.
  • Exercises professional judgment and maintains a patient‑centered demeanor.
  • Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.
  • Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality.
  • Adheres to Orlando Health mission statements and strategic imperatives.
  • Assesses the patient’s physical condition and age‑specific needs.
  • Provides clear instructions to achieve patient cooperation and the desired results.
  • Performs proper patient identification and collects patient’s clinical history, documenting accurately.
  • Positions patient, equipment, and associated devices and manipulates technical factors to achieve high‑quality images for interpretation.
  • Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated.
  • Applies principles of radiation safety to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others.
  • Comprehends and complies with Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in contrast medication administration with or without power injectors.
  • Performs venipuncture and evaluates IV access for contrast administration as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Administers medical aid as required in cases of adverse reaction to contrast medication or other emergencies.
  • Applies appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross‑contamination of contagious diseases.
  • Assists in the supervision of student technologists and training of new technologists.
  • Utilizes all Corporate Radiology computer systems effectively and accurately.
  • Ensures safety of all customers.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies and relevant federal, state, and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies, department guidelines, and education requirements.
Qualifications
Education / Training

Meets American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and/or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) guidelines.

Licensure / Certification
  • Maintains current Basic Life Support (BLS)/HealthCare Provider certification.
  • Maintains current one of the following certifications:
    • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) through ARDMS in Fetal Echocardiography (FE).
    • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through ARDMS.
    • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) through ARDMS.
Experience
  • Able to perform routine echocardiology exams, including 2‑D and M‑Mode echocardiography, and vascular sonography exams, including 2‑D, M‑Mode, Color Flow and Spectral Doppler, Carotid Ultrasound, Venous Doppler Upper and Lower Extremities, and Arterial Duplex Upper and Lower Extremities.
  • Knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Must demonstrate competency within the first six months of hire in performing at least three of the following echocardiography and/or vascular exams: 3‑D, Strain, Exercise Stress Echocardiography, Dobutamine Stress Echocardiography, TAVR, Mitral Clip, Complex Valve, Watchman, Post Processing, Contrast Studies, Agitated Saline Studies, Transesophageal (TEE), Surgical TEE, Simple Cardiac Shunts, Venous Insufficiency, Visceral, Segmental Physiology Upper Extremity, Access Grafts, Hemodialysis Access, Venous Ablation Procedures, Ultrasound Guidance, Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, Temporal Artery, or Transcranial Imaging.
